Sony will launch a new compact small screen model next year, but the configuration is not flagship

As early as August, it was reported that Sony planned to re launch compact phones in 2021, and now the Japanese blog Android next has reiterated this rumor.

According to reports, Sony will release its new Xperia compact model in the first half of 2021. Sony’s compact series models have always been small in size, but provide high-end configuration. However, this strategy seems to be changing. According to the latest report, the upcoming compact mobile phone will carry the snapdragon 775g processor, which is a 6nm 5g chip. It is said that Qualcomm is developing it.

The report also said that Sony’s new compact phone will have a 5.5-inch display and will be based on existing models, possibly Xperia 1 II or Xperia 5 II. This is partly in line with a report a year ago that said the next compact model would have a 5.5-inch screen and would carry the snapdragon 665.

It house learned that the Xperia xz2 compact, Sony’s last compact phone, was launched in 2018 with a 5-inch display and snapdragon 845 chip. In September 2019, the company released the not so small 6.1-inch Xperia 5. Although it does not have the nickname compact, it is positioned as a device small enough to be “in the palm of the hand.”.

Although it’s too early to talk about the 12.5-inch mini phone, it’s a good thing for more users to accept the new 4-inch smartphone.
