In the early days, foreign media reported that the combination of oxygen OS and OPO coloros will improve efficiency and standardize the cross platform software experience. Since the cooperation between Canada and oppo has been for a while, just a few weeks ago, the two companies announced the formal merger with oppo in terms of operation. After integrating their R & D resources, the two companies decided to cooperate openly.
Through a forum post, one Canada announced the merger of oxygen OS and coloros, and stressed that this change will appear in the code base. This means that end users are unlikely to notice any significant changes – at least for a while.
“As in the past, oxygen OS is still a global plus user operating system, but it is now built on a more stable and stronger platform,” the company said
Add that the update will be applicable to its new devices in the future, while for existing equipment still under maintenance plan, code base integration between oxygen OS and coloros will arrive with android12 through wireless (OTA) updates.
This change is expected to help a Canadian company bring stable and timely software updates, which is what the company really needs to focus on – given its series of issues in some of its past updates, and the time it takes to update old hardware.
According to the improved Android update plan launched by one plus, the company will provide three large versions of Android updates and 4-year security updates for flagship products (including T and R models, as well as 8 series and newer devices); Nord/nordce, the first oneplusnord and the newer nord/nordce devices, will receive two Android versions and three-year security updates; Nordn series, starting with N10 and N100, all nseries devices will receive a large version of Android updates and three-year security updates.
However, the new schedule will not apply to many old phones. Only oneplus8 series or newer products are eligible for this new schedule, which means that the oneplus7 series, which will be released in 2019, will still receive the last major update this year. Customized models for operators can also cause problems with these plans, as oneplus said software updates for these devices will “follow the requirements of our operator partners.”.
