Microsoft's 2021 fiscal year second quarter financial report public

Microsoft officially released its financial report for the second quarter of fiscal 2021 (October 1, 2020-December 31, 2020). Total revenue reached US$43.1 billion, net profit was US$15.5 billion, revenue increased by 17%, and profit increased by 33%. With the success of the new host XSS/X in the market, Microsoft’s hardware revenue increased by 86% compared to the same period last year.

Game-related revenue increased by 51% compared with the same period last year, generating revenue of US$5 billion, the best in history.

Xbox content and services increased by 40% compared to the same period last year, mainly relying on first-party and third-party games and Xbox Game Pass subscription services.

Xbox hardware increased by 86% compared to the same period last year, and XSS/X sales in the first month exceeded any previous Microsoft console. Xbox hardware profits account for up to 31% of the total profits of Microsoft’s gaming industry.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers reached 18 million, and Xbox Live monthly active players reached 100 million.
