A few months ago, this second-generation system with learning capabilities was unveiled on S-Class vehicles. MBUX Hyperscreen is a model of digital/analog design fusion: multiple screens seamlessly merge to form an impressive curved screen strip. The analog air outlet is integrated in this large-size digital screen, connecting the digital world and the physical world.

In addition to the driver, passengers also have their own display screens and operating areas, which makes the journey more enjoyable and interesting. Up to 7 configuration files are built in the system, making it possible to customize content. However, the entertainment function in the passenger display screen needs to be used in accordance with the laws and regulations of various countries. If there is no one in the passenger seat, the screen will become a digital decoration. In this case, the three-pointed star logo animation of Mercedes-Benz will appear on the screen.

In order to provide clear and beautiful images, OLED technology is used in the center and passenger displays. All pixels have self-luminescence capability, while uncontrolled image pixels remain closed, which means that these pixels will appear deep black; OLED pixels in active state will emit high-color bright spots, which can be used in any The viewing angle and light conditions can improve the contrast.

Infotainment systems need to provide a large number of comprehensive functions, but the operation often requires multiple steps. In order to further reduce the interaction steps, Mercedes-Benz has developed a user interface with context awareness with the help of artificial intelligence.

MBUX can proactively provide users with the right functions at the right time. For example, if EQS car owners often use seat heating and massage functions in winter, the system will remember this setting and advise the car owner to turn on these comfort functions in low temperature conditions. For another example, if the owner often uses the seat heating function when turning on the steering wheel heating, the system will advise the owner to also turn on the steering wheel heating function next time he turns on the seat heating.

Mercedes-Benz investigated the user behavior of the first generation of MBUX and found that in most cases, car owners use navigation, broadcasting, media and phone functions. Therefore, in the new system, the navigation application will always be located on the screen. In a central location, the application is fully functional.

The width of all the displays seamlessly blended together reached 141 cm, and the total screen area reached 2,432.11 square centimeters. There are 12 actuators at the bottom of the screen, and the owner can get tactile feedback during the operation. If the finger touches a specific point, it will trigger the vibration of the screen. The two-layer coating on the screen can reduce reflections and make the screen easier to clean. The curved glass itself is composed of particularly scratch-resistant aluminum silicate.

In terms of technical parameters, MBUX Hyperscreen uses 8 CPU cores, 24GB of memory and 46.4GB of running memory per second. The screen is also equipped with a multifunctional camera and a light sensor. According to the data tested by the sensor, the screen brightness can be adjusted adaptively according to the environment.

In terms of the number and size of screens, MBUX Hyperscreen has surpassed the 17-inch screen that Tesla is proud of. From the perspective of computing power, MBUX Hyperscreen can completely kill Tesla screens. Many car owners have stated that after a period of use, Tesla’s screens will experience freezes and delays that affect the experience.

In the global electric vehicle market, Tesla occupies a dominant position, while traditional automakers such as Daimler have also been promoting the development of electric vehicles to compete with Tesla for market share.
