Huawei P50 series released on July 29

Macrumors, a foreign media report, reported that according to the data of counterpoint research, Apple’s iPhone 12 series has sold more than 100 million units, and has promoted the first super cycle of iPhone sales since the iPhone 6.

According to the Research Institute, Apple’s iPhone 12 series sold more than 100 million units in April this year, which means that these devices reached a milestone within seven months after their launch. By contrast, this is two months earlier than the iPhone 11 series launched in 2019, which is almost the same as the iPhone 6, which drove the super cycle of sales around the 4G transition period in 2014 and 2015. This means that the iPhone 12 series is the first iPhone of the six generation devices to sell in a super cycle.

Counterpoint analysis explains that for the iPhone 6 series, sales are supported by pent up demand for large screen iPhones, while for the iPhone 12 series, 5g connectivity and full line OLED displays are the main factors attracting customers.

With the average price of the iPhone at an all-time high, the sales super cycle is expected to bring record breaking revenue. The impressive sales performance of iPhone 12 also made apple’s market share reach a new high in April this year. Since October 2020, its market share in the United States has also reached a new high, and this trend is expected to continue.

It is reported that consumer preferences also vary between the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 lineups. Consumers showed greater interest in the iPhone 12 Pro max, which accounted for 29% of sales in the first seven months after its release, while the iPhone 11 Pro Max accounted for 25%. That’s one of the reasons why the total revenue of the iPhone 12 Series in the first seven months after its launch was 22% higher than that of the iPhone 11 series.

By April this year, sales in the U.S. accounted for 40% of global iPhone 12 Pro Max sales. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is supported by active operator promotions, making it the best-selling mobile device in the United States since December 2020.
