Barclays (Barclays) analyst Blayne Curtis and Thomas O’Malley stated in an investor report that all four iPhone 13 models will be equipped with an upgraded ultra-wide-angle camera with a /1.8 aperture, while the iPhone 12 model will be / 2.4 Aperture.
In an investor report last November, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also claimed that the ultra-wide-angle lens will be upgraded to /1.8 aperture, but only for iPhone 13 Pro models, so how many models will upgrade the ultra-wide-angle lens? There is conflicting information. Guo predicts that the upgraded ultra-wide-angle lens will be extended to the rest of the flagship iPhone lineup in the second half of 2022.
A larger aperture will allow more light to pass through the lens, and upgrading from /2.4 aperture to /1.8 aperture may significantly improve the low-light performance of iPhone 13 models when shooting in ultra-wide-angle mode.
Barclays also claimed that the upgraded version of the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s telephoto lens will be extended to the standard iPhone 13 Pro with a focal length of 65 mm and an aperture of /2.2. This move is expected to benefit the chip maker Cirrus Logic, because Starting later this year, Cirrus Logic will provide Apple with an additional model of iPhone camera controller.
