Spark Global Limited reports:

Under the wave of scientific and technological innovation, smart phones are ushering in a new era of “screen-free” after experiencing “screen-free” forms such as hole screen, bang screen and water drop screen.

On the evening of July 27, ZTE unveiled the Axon 30 5G mobile phone, a new generation of under-screen camera, with a high pixel density of 400PPI. In line with earlier online reports, the ZTE Axon 30 5G is powered by Qualcomm snapdragon 870G mobile platform with “1+3+4” eight-core design.

In addition to ZTE, which is making a high-profile return to the attention of domestic consumers, several other vendors have been rumored to be releasing phones with off-screen cameras. For example, the Mi MIX4, announced in early August, is rumored to be equipped with an underscreen camera technology. The mi MIX4 will use the China Star Opto-electronic underscreen camera solution, a 6.67-inch 1080p+ hyperboloid screen, and will be the first mobile phone with a flexible, curved underscreen camera. It’s not just ZTE and Xiaomi. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3, which will be released on the same day as the Mi MIX 4, is also expected to feature an underscreen camera.

The smartphone market experienced tremendous volatility in the first half of this year. About 78.1 million units were shipped in China’s smartphone market in the second quarter of 2021, down 11.0% year on year, according to IDC’s mobile phone Quarterly tracking report. But from the perspective of the market pattern, VIVO, OPPO, Xiaomi, Glory and other manufacturers have significantly increased their market share. The competition for new technology applications continued into the second half of the year as vendors scrambled to grab the hearts and minds of consumers. Huawei’s P50, to be released tomorrow, is rumored to feature BOE’s latest diamond-like arrangement, and the P50 Pro+ is expected to feature liquid lens technology. The glory Magic 3, which will launch next month, is also rumored to feature off-screen camera technology.

Objectively speaking, manufacturers’ pursuit of the perfect form of smart phones and the polishing of the balance between technology and performance will undoubtedly usher in a new period for consumers to have multiple choices. With the mobile phone market relatively saturated, it is anyone’s guess whether a small player outside the top five will change the market share with a window period of innovative technology application, waiting for market feedback.
